Together

As I grew, you grew along with me.
The taller I became, the tighter you held me.
The older I get, the more you wrapped
yourself around me.
You twisted and turned until you were part of me.
The closer you hold me, the more I need you with me.
The two of us are together and I always want
you with me.

  1. Beautiful image! Interesting that they grew together, one winding itself around. Love the poetic images as well.

  3. Your poem makes me think of a wonderful relationship, and the image supports it with the idea of a lifeline. Very well done.

  5. I like the image. I'm not sure about the tense shift near the end. I kind of like leaving the image in the past and letting the present and future unspoken.

  6. What a fantastic pairing of image and words!

I find these two lines to be interesting: "You twisted and turned until you were part of me.
/The closer you hold me, the more I need you with me."

Probably I'm projecting, but there's something dark about those lines--that kind of merging and need.

Anyway, thanks for sharing this. Loved it!

  7. Thanks to you all for your thoughts and insights on this post!
I really enjoy the difference in opinions and points of view, creates inspiration and clarity.
I tend to write from the heart and my feelings and emotions often show, good days and bad days come together in a post such as this.

  8. Without the picture I would still smile with you, but the picture only reinforces a greater appreciation for your composition.

  10. I particularly love your choice of photo juxtaposed with this poem. I actually read a slight desperation in the words, that the tightness can be good but suffocating. For me the visual reinforces that feeling. I could be completely projecting that, because on the face of things the words sound quite uplifting. But that's the effect for me. I see why you have such a great eye for photos when you post links on twitter. You are a talented photographer yourself. Thanks for the post.

I find the points of view amazing and I am grateful to you!
I have always enjoyed the written word and photography is a dream too, together they paint a picture that alone is hard to do.
