Roses

Love blooms in the strangest places,
finding beauty within small spaces.
Thinking of what drives me closer to home,
the welcomed need for love and connection.
I see tenderness in the faces and places I pass.
Wondering if I reach out, will it be returned?
Carefully watching those treading on my heart,
smoothing the ups and downs love brings along
the way.
High hopes adorn, seeking the perfect blend
of tender thoughts with firm guidance.
Imagining what the perfect love could be,
a delicate mix of friendship, trust and respect.
Considering what it takes to love and love fully,
is a game of give and take, loss and gains.
Love is amazing, beautiful and magical,
touched sometimes by waves of fear, doubt
and need.
Realizing what it takes to love and be loved,
is trust, admiration and the desire to be as one.
Love wholly, deeply, tenderly, peacefully..forever.

Happy Valentine's Day!

  4. Thank you all for your comments and thoughts!
This is a deep, meaningful poem for me.
Life is full of learning and sometimes the path is not always smooth and trouble free.
I think love and life is what you make it, no matter what happens, good or bad, it can be changed and made better.

  5. Desire vs action. Finding vs searching. Longing vs having. Valentine's Day is a festival bound to create some sadness for many. Thaks for sharing your rambles through the topic!

  7. Hi Gwen,

Thanks for following me @plantmad [on twitter]. Given that I follow your Poetic Notions [gr8 title btw) I was compelled to read your words of love and was very touched by your understanding of what true love is all about. Thanks so much for sharing and a very happy Valentines to you and yours.

  8. Aw, now there's a sweet little piece for the day of couples...there's a lot of beauty in love, and everyone longs to know the feeling, to have and to hold and to be held by someone dear to heart. It may not always be easy, for with the good surely comes the bad, but love - there is no feeling like it, and your poem's a lovely tribute to the feeling.
