Red is for Love

You called my name.
Red is for love.
Red is for life.
I slip you on,
tie you tight.
Smiles spread,
over my face.
Walk together,
at even pace.
Stop to look,
it's not a race.
Sun above,
ground below,
we are close as anyone,
you know.
You love me,
you hold me,
I am yours,
my sneaker love.
Red is for love,
a love I adore.
Be with me,
evermore.

  2. Ahhh! This is without doubt a 'glow-in-the-heart' poem. I love the idea of 'even pace' and 'not a race' because to me that's what long-term love is like and I do enjoy positive poetry that uplifts the spirit. Thanks for sharing.

  3. "Stop to look,
    it's not a race." Love this ... a good love is not a 100 yard dash ... it's a marathon :)

  6. Mm, "my sneaker love", reminds me of getting red shoes in grade school and sleeping with them beside my bed.

  7. Charming and whimsical piece that plays on a lot of levels. Shoes are such a very personal thing.

  8. An interesting verse... seemed like an Object poetry to me... which Rilke made famous with his 'Tiger'

  9. I love poems about shoes -especially red shoes - I have one too. Reminds me of Paolo Nutini's New Shoes song. It always brings me a smile.
