Dark and quiet,
alone and dreary,
winter winds speak to me.
Listen to the roar of water,
rushing down your chilled banks.
Trees sway and tower high above,
I speak not a word,
move not an inch,
hear only what I need to hear.
The year nearly gone, passed in a flash,
I rather move on, than relive the past.
Seeking happiness, love and light,
I pay gratitude and welcome the night.
Happy New Year!
I like your closing, the idea of paying gratitude, choosing joy, and moving on.
